THE LEADING LADIES MODEL
A consistent place for girls to be seen, supported, and challenged.
Groups gather once a week after school, during school, or on Saturdays at local schools, community centers, youth-serving organizations, and Leading Ladies of Legacy facilities.
Each group typically serves 20–25 girls and is led by a highly trained Adult Program Coordinator. Guided conversations and activities address school, identity, self-awareness, diversity, family relationships, college, careers, and the real choices girls are navigating.
By focusing on the critical pre-teen and teen years, our programs strengthen protective factors and address root causes connected to poverty, teen pregnancy, violence, and educational attainment.
OUR MENTORING PROGRAMS

Each league meets weekly and adapts the same holistic program model to the developmental needs, questions, and possibilities of its age group.
GRADES 6–8
Lovely Ladies League
A supportive space for the critical pre-teen years, helping girls navigate identity, relationships, school, emotions, goals, and growing independence.
GRADES 9–12
Leading Ladies League
A leadership and future-readiness experience focused on voice, decision-making, service, academic success, college, careers, and legacy.

OUR BLACK GIRL LITERACY EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM
Literacy that helps Black girls read the word and shape the world.
Designed for girls ages 8–12, our Black Girl Literacy Educational Program promotes reading, writing, critical thinking, cultural identity, digital storytelling, mentorship, and community engagement.
The program is informed by the Black Girl Literacy Framework developed by educator and researcher Dr. Kimberly Parker.
Identity
Build a positive sense of self, cultural pride, belonging, and purpose as the foundation for literacy development.
Literacy
Strengthen reading comprehension, writing proficiency, critical thinking, and communication through culturally responsive instruction.
Community
Create supportive communities where girls engage with reading, writing, and story in meaningful, connected ways.
Advocacy
Help girls challenge stereotypes, use their voices, and understand the systems and practices that shape literacy access.

Books are the beginning, not the boundary.
Book Clubs
Monthly reading and discussion centered on books by Black authors and stories featuring Black girls.
Writing Workshops
Guided practice, feedback, and opportunities for girls to develop and share their own written voices.
Digital Literacy
Storytelling through digital media tools so girls can author, create, and publish their own narratives.
Mentoring
Connections with older women who provide guidance, encouragement, and literacy support.
Community Outreach
Book drives and partnerships with schools and libraries that make literacy visible and accessible.
