8 Things Every Girl Needs to Know About Leadership

1. Every leader needs a role model.

We all have women who exemplify who we’re trying to become. Keeping these mentors close and making contact with them frequently allows us a personal guide to our most difficult decisions and choices. It’s always a good idea to seek advice from mentors because it helps guide leaders being able to make decisions alone with confidence.

2. Leadership is learned.

Excellent leadership is learned. Either from books, Cd’s, magazines, reading, or being in the presence of great leaders. If you want to improve your leadership skills read the books of great leaders and begin to understand things from their point of view.

3. When you know the way, go they way, and show the way you’re a leader!

If you know what needs to be done, you do it and tell others how to do the right thing, you’re a leader! There is no special way a leaders looks, talks, or dresses. They simply do and show others. If that’s you then you’re a leader!

4. Focus on building your self confidence and you’ll learn consistent leadership.

Now is a great time to believe in yourself, your power, and your abilities. Say to yourself every morning that you are are capable of everything you desire to do. If you can think it up you can do it. You just have to work through all your talents and resources and figure out how! If everyday you start thinking you can’t do something because you’re not good enough, the people who follow you will lose confidence in you, and even worse you’ll lose confidence in yourself. Train yourself to think positive thoughts and you’ll shine consistently!

teengirl5. Leaders constantly learn.

Learning never stops and learning happens in other places other than school. You can learn a lot about yourself when you’re around your friends, family, and when you’re by yourself. How are you spending your time? Watching TV? Reading? Doing volunteer work? When you are clear about learning look for opportunities everyday to grow smarter and stronger. Learn how to cook a new dish, learn how to say goodbye in 5 languages, or learn what causes thunder. Vow to yourself to learn something new everyday outside of the classroom and keep that commitment for life!

6. Leaders don’t wait for someone else to do it first, they lead.

You are not a leader if you know something is not right and you sit back and wait for someone else to fix it. The leader always takes the initiative. That means when everyone else is scared to move you aren’t. It takes boldness to be a leader and creativity. Sometimes others are scared to do something simply because they don’t know what to do.  Think before you act but don’t just sit and wait for someone to do something you have the intelligence to do for yourself.

7. Leaders must be aware of the way they look and the things they say because you are a role model to someone, somewhere.

When you become a leader you will notice more and more people become attracted to you and will come to you for answers and support. The crazy thing about it is they’ll want to be more like you because they like the way you handle yourself and tough situations. With that being said make sure you keep a GREAT appearance. Keep your nails and toes clipped and polished, make sure your hair looks neat and presentable, keep you body fresh and your clothes ironed. Keep profanity out of your mouth! You want to dress the way you want to be addressed. If you want respect, dress like it and speak like it and you will have it!

8. Leaders are girls of action, not reaction.

Leaders take the lead. They don’t wait for something bad to happen then feel compelled to do something about it. They are visionaries or people who have great big dreams and ideas. These people aren’t waiting for something bad to happen then want to step up and be a shero! They are always looking for ways to make things better and that what makes them leaders. If there is a better way to do something at home; speak up! At school? SPEAK UP! In your community? SPEAK UP. Don’t silence your voice or your ideas. You are smart and very capable. Now it’s time to show the world!
